  • Bernard Estève has been appointed Executive President of AREVA North America. He will be responsible for determining and implementing the group's strategy in the United States and Canada. Bernard Estève is a member of the Nuclear Executive Committee and reports directly to Anne Lauvergeon, Chairman of the Executive Board.

This appointment becomes effective on April 1, 2006.

  • Xavier Jacob is appointed Senior Executive Vice President AREVA NP, Plants Sector. He replaces Bernard Estève. He is a member of the Nuclear Executive Committee and reports directly to Vincent Maurel, President of AREVA NP.

  • Philippe Hatron is appointed Chief Financial Officer of AREVA Inc. He reports directly to Bernard Estève.

Biographical Information

Bernard Estève, a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines, began his career in 1968 at GDF in the underground tanks department. In 1977, he joined the Equipment Department of EDF as Regional Director before becoming Director of SEPTEN (thermal and nuclear projects and design department) in 1990. In 1993, he was appointed manager of the Fuel Division of EDF. In May 2000, he joined Framatome (now AREVA NP) as Vice President, Fuel before becoming Managing Director of the Plants Sector in 2003.  

Xavier Jacob, is a chemical engineer and holds a US Masters of Science degree. He joined Technip in 1968 where he held several management positions in particular managing far-reaching export industrial projects. He spent several years abroad during the course of this work: Algeria (1969 - 1970), China (1977 - 1979) and the US (1980 -1988). Between 1987 and 1998, he was in charge of managing resources (engineering, procurement, construction, IT). He then took over the coordination of technological development and development of the Management Project function at group level. At the same time, he was a member of the management committee of several joint ventures set up with foreign companies (American, Japanese and Italian) and chaired three subsidiaries (French, Russian and Spanish). He has spent 12 years on the TECHNIP Management Committee.

Philippe Hatron, has a Masters degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Rouen. He began his career at price Waterhouse in Paris in 1988 and became a manager in 1993. In 1995 he moved to the Audit Division of the Finance Department at COGEMA (now AREVA NC). In 1998 he went to work in the US as Vice President and CFO of Transnuclear Inc., a subsidiary of COGEMA specializing in used fuel cask transportation and engineering. When in this post he was involved in the acquisition and integration of the Packaging Technology and NUHOMS subsidiaries. Since 2001 he has been the financial controller of the Nuclear Measurements Business Unit in the US. He also headed the Business Unit's Human Resources department from 2003 to 2005 and was Executive Vice President and CFO of Canberra, the group's nuclear measurements subsidiary.
