Spent fuel coming from Switzerland arriving in France

According to the contract signed between swiss utilities and COGEMA, and following intergovernmental agreements between France and Switzerland, part of the spent fuel from swiss nuclear power plants is sent to France for reprocessing.

In accordance with these commitments, a shipment of a cask containing spent fuel from Leibstadt nuclear power plant is under preparation. Taking into account the operational measures to implement, the shipment could reach the COGEMA Logistics rail terminal located in Valognes from November 24th.

This operation strictly conforms to national and international regulations.
