Spent fuel shipment from Holland to France

As announced by the Dutch Electricity Company EPZ, a shipment of spent fuel will leave the Borssele Plant (Holland) for the COGEMA La Hague reprocessing plant, on January 17th 2001. This transport is within the context of the 1993 contract signed between EPZ and COGEMA, for the reprocessing of spent fuel from their nuclear plant.
The TN 17-2 cask containing 6 spent fuel assemblies will first be transferred by road from the power plant to the rail terminal at Vlissingen-Oost (4km) then by rail to the terminal at Valognes. This transport will strictly conform to national and international regulations.
