DOE to sign contract with COGEMA for MOX technology transfer to Russia

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced that it is negotiating a 2-year contract with COGEMA to transfer MOX fuel fabrication technology to Russia starting January 2005.

Under the agreement, COGEMA would transfer rights of use in its intellectual property to the DOE for the design of the U.S. MOX plant and provide limited technical support for the construction of a twin plant in Russia.
